Trauma

Trauma and the emotional pain it creates can come in many forms. There is physical and emotional abuse that can be a one-time event or happen over several days, months or years. There are those that have gone through a natural disaster, the tragic loss of a loved one, or the pain of an unhealthy relationship.  The emotional toll that trauma has is profound. Trauma often leads to feelings of hopelessness, helplessness, isolation, depression, anxiety, restlessness, impulsivity, substance use and an increased use of maladaptive coping skills.

In the midst of feelings all is lost, hope can be found in therapy. At Given Guidance, we help you process your trauma in a safe environment. Through the use of talk-therapy, you begin the first courageous step toward healing. By understanding your trauma, you can let go of experiences that were not your fault or learn to accept your own responsibility.
